Not sure if I understand exactly what you're after,
but sounds like a job for 'set'.
Use your key routine to the value into a
message box, the output of which is then trigered by
yer bangs. See Tutorial 25, Managing Mesages,
      cheers

attach an [int 1] box to the top-left inlet of coll.
send your coll retrieval msgs to the right outlet of the int box,
bang when necessary to retrieve the value.
      cheers

guys how do i think about BPMs when working with max? im using Waveform to
slice beats out of drumloops and storing the slices in a Preset object. but
it kinda sux. is there anywaythat i can sync the BPM from the loop up with
the BPM snapping on Wavform~? and not have to do it manualy each time?
is this asking for beat detection? and if so how is max at doing that?
      thanks,
      joel
P.s. im not going to upgrade till i get my laptop next month, im affrade of
what might happen to this OLD OLD pc. 2 of my hard drives have failed so far
and this one isn't doing so well. so im avoiding big instalations. i've had
this beast for 5 years lol

joel check these links out , i think you will find some of the answers you are looking for :
audiooo.com japanese recycler application with some interesting downloads for people interested in the subject.
check pelado's p.decimator patch which is another recycler.
in case you did not check the modsquad patch in the msp examples, check the different vesions , showing different approaches on recycling.
this will give you a few different options on recycling .
      have fun exploring.

i am sure i am not the first to think this, but has anyone
done a max/msp podcast? IF i felt like i knew what i was
talking about, i would do it. So far, all i have found is
some random useless stuff on youtube. Just an idea.
