The M-audio FW 410 is really getting frustrating for me because of the endless succession of problems. After spending several months to find a suitable pcmcia cardbus, it carries on with a rather amusing problem.
It constantly crashes the max if somebody does something with the
houses appliances and takes every shred of a day's work with it.
Never even heard a problem like that and I won't be able to do
anything with that audio interface. And that includes turning the lights on and off too...
I was hoping that you had an idea about the possible solutions to this because the built-in sound card is a terrible option for me either. I got the unit from ebay without anything except for the actual unit, no cables or manuals etc...So it doesn't have the original ac adapter. I tried it with the just laptop's battery on, laptop running from the ac power and both ways. It wouldn't help. I even got an ups, which doesn't do it either. I can't even go to the bathroom without getting my Max crashed.
So my solution to this is, as stated in the previous topic aboud FW 410, bus-powering the unit. However, I heard at a review (at sound-on-sound) that you can't actually feed the unit with a pcmcia card by itself. So you must use a power adapter for the unit, or for the pcmcia card itself. I was wondering what are other solutions to this problem, is standalone bus-powering really possible?
My laptop is Asus A6V, centrino 1,8 ghz. 512 mb ram with Billionton pcmcia to firewire adapter (VIA chipset)
