When I show/hide an object while I also change the background color

I have this behaviour only in max 7 and not max 6.

I tested this with the latest max, max 7.2.2.

Does anybody know if this is a max bug? Any workarounds?

For a workaround : maybe using an inactive image which is just transparent, then you'd change the active/inactive state ? it should maybe work better - i'm not sure - all i know is that the hidden state of object is probably not thought to be changed at runtime, so that may be why it seems a bit clunky here.

It's hardly what I would characterize as a bug, since it's purely cosmetic (& almost subliminal) - anyway you can minimize it by introducing a slight delay before you change the background to black

Because for the active/inactive workaround I want to use pictctrl in toggle mode

and then I can't use the 'mouse down' image in inactive mode.

For me a delay of even 1 ms works, they both look good in max 6 and 7 for me, so

at least it works on my computer. I hope it works on other computers too.

(I'm working on a release, so that's why I care a bit more about this minor thing atm)
