Where are people sharing their custom Max external objects these days now that Cycling74's tools section is defunct?

The Max packages is an excellent distribution system for extensive projects like Beaps or Bach but heavyweight for sharing a few externals to support a patcher or synth.

I see that maxobjects.com went quiet but seem to be back, having joined non-profit EAMIR under a GNU distribution licence. Any news there? All the classic 32- and some newer 64-bit objects are linked from their site (but not hosted, I believe?).

Cycling74 folks seem to use GitHub to host side-project and personal source code for custom externals. That more or less suits my purpose — I just have a few 64-bit external objects with source code.

So put the source on GitHub, post a link on the Max forums and send an message to maxobjects.com to link to GitHub?

without adblocker gihthub&co are not very user friendly, it would not be my first choice for compiled stuff only.

why not a personal website for some 15 cents per month?

i was planning to just announce on forums for the beta-test and then the main distribution will be through packages once beta-test is over(and i host the C code on GitHub mainly to share for people who want to convert it to gen~ or outside of Max... or in case i die and can't compile for people anymore 😂). packages seems a good internally managed(by c74) system and people have access to it right from within max(also, karma~ was only one external but it was distributed by packages and seems to work well there(something like 4k+ downloads now)). i think it works well for the small things like a single external, too because the "Launch" button in the package manager would simply launch the helpfile. but if it seems overkill, another possibility is to release the singles on your own website and through forums, and then eventually when you have many objects, put it all in a collection and release as a package.

I currently host a site but a code repository seemed to me like a more trustable, recognizable place to get GPL'ed source and externals. It's a pity Cycling74 no longer hosts an external repository.
