Max For Live Drum Rack
Hey, guys. I am making a huge drum loop, MIDI clip, drum rack from an Ableton set.
My drum rack has about 128 devices in it, because each clip has been sliced into a kit and I have a chain selector that switches kits for me. I am afraid this amount of drum racks inside an instrument will make Live perform badly (
My workaround is to make 8 devices for each item in every rack (more like an Impulse Kit). This requires copying individual drum hits into a big standardized rack for each item (Kick1, Kick2, Snare1, Snare2, etc) so that I have a big Kick rack and a big Snare rack - each in a corresponding order so that their kit associations are preserved. But this is a ton of busywork.
My question: Am I actually sparing my computer by setting this up like this? and if there is a benefit to CPU economy, is there a faster way for me to rearrange my drum racks using Max?
thanks,
