Midi sample dump

Anyone here have experience of using Max for Midi
sample dumping that they'd care to share ?
I have an old FZ1 that i wish to get rid of, but
before i do, I'd like to archive my sample collection.
I used to do this using Alchemy on OS 9, but I've
recently changed my Midi interface to an M-Audio FW
410, and I just cannot get the thing to work on OS 9.
I can't find any s/w for OS X that's ever heard of an
FZ1, so I figured Max should be the answer, but Im
having trouble getting my head round the mechanics of
the thing. How, for example, do I capture the incoming
midi data and write it to disc as an audio file ?
I've searched the archive, but all I find is myself
asking this same question six months ago,
    cheers

I haven't done this sort of thing, but it sounds like something that
peek~ would be good at, since it has the ability to write single
samples at the control rate. There's presumably some sort of header,
etc. data before the sound? (try dumping a sine wave to check it?)

Alchemy was a cool program. I don't know how to do MIDI sample dump
in MAX/MSP, but I know it works in Peak and DSP Quattro. DSP Quattro
supports SCSI MIDI dumps as well as standard MIDI Sample dumps (and
it is half the price of Peak). Look under Commands->Network Receive-
      >MIDI or SCSI
The FZ1 isn't listed in the application menu, but maybe it will work
anyway. Or maybe you already looked into this.....
Okay, anyway, I hope this helps.

I did do that, (was it 20 years ago?) with my FZ but it was pre Max in
Modula-2, I still have the Modula sources, which could enable you to
extract at least the format, but I guess you do have this information...
I could send you these source if it would help... (off list)
