Mira - a True Story
Mira: "When I look in da Mira I feel so old no one has look at me since april 2014. In the mean time Max is so fancy and new that has almost forgot about me. He is hanging out with others like Lemur and Touch OSC, because they are still in good shape. But I'm so old and bugy and crushy... I'm so old...."
Don't get me wrong I really appreciate the work from Cycling 74 and I also like Max 7 and the progress that has been done. I was also really enthusiastic about Mira but now I'm really disappointed because nothing happens with an App that has such great potential. (With the new Ipad Pro We would also have a bigger working environment, so it's rally a shame.)
I think it would be ok and fair if Cycling would give some feedback about what are their intention with Mira. So that We can decide to still keep it in our working environment or not.
Since Mira is quit an expensive app, It would be also fair for the users who are planing to buy it.
PS: please excuse my English.
Good point.
Agree
It's looking more like abandonware, which is a real shame as it's a great idea, and a much missing tool.
and 45 euro...
everybody,check out mobmuplat::::

it's 0 euro
Agree. The lack of updates, bug fixes, new devices support and no comments from c74 leaves me to believe it's been abandoned as well.
I don't know if there is anything to this, but the the programmer who initially did most of the work brining Mira to life, was on the Cycling74 'people' page last year but is no longer there now. If Cycling cut back or have him working on something different, I hope someone else picks up where he left off. For all the justified criticism regarding lack of updates, it's pretty a damn decent app.
Something to consider.. if you are okay with a tethered setup, Duet will give you a lag-free multitouch monitor for $15. That means 60fps access to everything in Max, not just Mira objects.
Yeah it looks like that Sam no longer works on Mira, thats a pity, since He was such a nice developer and has made some really interesting interactivity btw Max & Mira like the mira.frame, mira.multitouch object which are great. Anyway It would be really nice if someone from Cycling will continue the project. But if no one from Cycling would continue to develop Mira, I think it would be great if Cycling will give Mira as an "why not" Open source - Git Hub extension, so that much better programers that I'm, could developed it further. Of corse since Mira is still working on current IOS this will not happened, but in the future when Mira maybe wont be compatible with the new IOS it's gonna be interesting what will happened, I really hope for the best, even for the Open Sucre option in the end all will have benefit from this Cycling because they will have still a nice IOS app, and obviously the users.
I know that there are many alternative to Mira like MMF-Fantastick, C74 and of course the whole OSC world (Lemur, Touch OSC...), but I think that Mira, if would be maintained it would be still the best option.
I haven't tried Duet jet but I think it doesn't have the same really cool interaction like Mira and Max. I'm also interested if multi touch can be used in Duet (pleas let me know THX).
joining the mira sadness, and what's even more sad that C74 ignores/refuses to comment on anything about Mira. Even if they issued a statement like: "we are aware of everyone's concern for the future of Mira, and we are still discussing which path we will take", would be pretty considerate. But right now, things feel pretty swept under the rug, which is weird because a section of the forum is dedicated to this.
Ditto what Greg just wrote.
I've used most of the alternatives, and was really pleased with the ease of use of Mira. Most of the objects I need are already there (with a few exceptions which I've managed to get around so far), so my concern is also what will happen when an update either to Max or iOS breaks Mira (if that is possible). Especially as I use Mira for iPad control for long term installations.
@andrekobal - your hunch is correct. Duet does NOT have multitouch capability and suffers from the typical problems of translating touch to mouse clicks and drags. The mouse arrow also appears under your finger tip where ever you tap the screen.. so it essentially only gives you more screen real estate and turns your finger into a mouse.
That said, it does work very nicely for sliders, especially [multislider], where I am able to draw smoother curves compared to my trackpad or mouse. It also offers very high resolution options (higher than my retina display when using Duet on a new iPad Pro) which can dramatically increase working space. I haven't tested Jitter or GL video on the iPad , but I did use the iPad as a control surface (similar to Mira) while rendering GL video on my main computer screen and it worked quite well.
Overall.. I find it useful but not a replacement for Mira. In fact, it actually made me appreciate Mira even more.
Happy New Year everyone!
We are aware of everyone’s concern for the future of Mira, and we are still discussing which path we will take.
That nails it actually.
Cheers

Thank you. Glad to hear it. Was just using Mira tonight for a gig, [rslider] is such an amazing two finger experience.
Happy New Year from China
Andrew thats good news. As I said before Mira has some great potential and it would be a shame that it will get abandon.
Happy New Patching Year everyone!
Count me on the frustrated list as well.
Andrew - thanks for the update. Happy new year!
mobmuplat looked interesting but from what I can see it is not going to be compatible with Max. Or have I misunderstood something?
Really disappointed that Mira has been left to rot and the lack of feedback from C74, not to mention charging that much for an app with nothing other than initial development. I made a choice to use Mira over OSC or bespoke solutions on a couple of large projects with the expectation that bugs would be sorted out and the app would be further developed. I'm now having to go back and look at alternative control options because Mira lets people down regularly.
Early buyer and believer... More than disappointed. Hope there will be further developments.
also very disappointed mira user here. payed 50$ last month for it and it looks like there will never be an update :-(
I was an early adopter and lover of the app when it came out too! I still love it (despite the occassional crashes and bugs) , continue to hype it to other max users and truly hope that the folks at cycling74 hears our voices to keep & expand upon this very useful tool. 2016: the year Mira gets an upgrade?
Sad to hear that Sam is no longer working for Cycling 74. His videos taught me a lot about max and finally got me into programming my own patches.
hello, any news on that front?
is Mira dead?
would make me feel very sad
i guess it smells funny ?..
Anything new? Please. I want to believe!
Just the LED object. Please! It's such a bother to have to use fpic for indicators.
A recent tweet from C74 suggests something is on the way.
