Mira and Mac-to-Mac networks
I have been using Mira for about a week now with great results but ran into something this morning. I was using it on my in-house wireless network via an Apple Airport that leads out to the internet. I will eventually be performing in a space where I don't want to use their public WiFi. I created a network on my laptop. My iPad sees it when I identify it in Systems Preferences and connects but Mira doesn't see it. First questio is, can it be done this way? Second, what might I be missing? Third, is there a tutorial document about this?
I've had no trouble using Mira with an ad-hoc network from my MacBook. In fact, it's the only way that I can use it at university, because of the way the network is setup here. You may need to change some Sharing or security settings on your Mac - this tutorial might help.
creating the ad hoc networks was not the problem. Done it for years. It was getting Mira to recognize it.
I transferred this to another thread where a couple of hints led me to the solution.
Thanks anyway.
Looked a bit closer. The settings in the sharing seem to rid me of the error although the solution was ignoring (!) the error. Gotta love computers.
Thanks -really!
I owe you an apology. Your solution is spot on. What I was not doing is setting up sharing. Mira still generates errors but, when Max starts putting up mira.frames, Mira is very happy. Surprisingly, Mira recognizes both of my MacBook Pro laptops and posts frames from both! I don't think I need this but it is neat.
