Mystery object...

    Apr 26 2008 | 10:31 pm
    Hi,
I've been trying to work out what object i need to fulfill my needs but i cant work it out.
Is there an object that will only send a bang when a new number is received? so a constant stream of numbers is always being sent to it, but it only bangs when the number changes.
Basically i have a joystick which (due to the requirements of my patch) constantly outputs the number 1 when stationary. i want it to send a stream of bangs when the joystick is moved, but not when stationary.
ive looked in the reference manual and tutorials but cant find it.
any help would be much appreciated.
Im on OS X 10.4.11 with Max 4.6
    thankyou

Print out the Object Thesaurus and keep it by your toilet ('bathroom', if you prefer) - see the post about printed manuals, Cheers Roger

Or trial and error, sometimes type the object you imagine, by the name you imagine, and sometimes it exists... (In your case "change" was all over your question... ;-)
I do that as well, and if it doesn't exist a new abhaXion will be born... ;-)
Have fun with Max, you're welcome...

I use maxobjects.com like this. Usually a couple of keywords will bring up what I want. I am such a pack rat for third party objects that maxobjects.com is usually the quickest way to remember the name of something I probably already have but can't find because the OSX search feature refuses to guess what I mean.
