As seems to be the problem for many other beginners on this forum, 

 seem to be the culprits here for me. At times, this polysynth works just fine, and at others, it's glitchy or unresponsive. My suspicion is that the issue lies with how 

. The main problems I'm encountering are:

- ADSR parameters are unresponsive (sometimes all of them, sometimes some of them)

- Often cannot get sound out of the synth until I adjust the Attack parameter (do I need some sort of 

- Synth stops working or making sound at all (often when many voices are played in a short period of time) and must be re-loaded to work

Generally, it would help me a lot if someone could just take a look at this polysynth and let me know if I've constructed it correctly. I've watched a lot of tutorials, but many of them seem old or simply don't deal with an in-depth look at 

. I need to know how better to utilize these functions, and the reference documentation is somewhat limited (or just hard for me to understand fully). Additionally, I have a few peripheral questions about this synth:

 and how do I prevent the clicking sound of an abrupt cutoff when a voice is "stolen"?

 is very harsh and at times causes clipping with this synth, any suggestion on how to mitigate that?

3) Any suggestions on an easy way to get my "Pulse Width" dial to grey out when waveforms other than Square or Triangle are selected (since those are the only two on which I can modify this parameter)?

Thanks for any help here. Max is both amazing and very frustrating, but mostly just a lot of fun, so I'm hoping I can start to get a better handle on it.

At times, this polysynth works just fine, and at others, it's glitchy or unresponsive. My suspicion is that the issue lies with how adsr~ is handled in poly~ or  with how the @target 0 message works with poly~. The main problems I'm encountering are:

maybe not what you want to hear, but i´d consider this as "normal", and always design things like that.

the audio DSP code of a "synth" does need to have all variables set; that is the job of the "preset" or "program" part of the code.

and even if you only want one state, a main loadbang object is one of the first things should be put in every new patcher.

oh, or skip adsr and make your own envelope system. then everything works like you want.

Makes sense. Loadbang helps a lot. Sounds like making my own ADSR is the way to go moving forward though.
