New Max for Live (Max 7) devices not appearing in Ableton
I've noticed there are several new Max for Live devices in Max 7 which can be accessed through the Plugins > Live Device menu and opened in a Max project.
I don't seem to be able to find them though:
1. In Ableton Live - they're not showing up with the rest of the Max for Live devices.
2. Through Finder on my Mac. A search for, say, 'autotuna.amxd' reveals no results.
Does anyone know how I can get them to appear in Ableton and whereabouts on my Mac they are located?

just copying those two folders "max audio effects" and "max instruments" into your ableton user library will make them show up.
Now I am just struggling with using the presets (.adv files). I can find them in the folder "user Library" in the left sidebar in Ableton, but whenever i try to launch one it says: "Could not access the Max device file 'name.amxd'". I hope a little googling will solve this...
it'd be also if the presets also lived in the Max for Live sidebar selection
@Gregfinger - Thanks for the link. Yes, copying the files into my user library did the trick.
Regarding the presets though, did you not already have the other devices?
It was only the 14 or so new devices I was missing. The rest were already in my Ableton library, so I didn't have the same problem as you accessing the presets (as the devices were already there - I only copied over the new ones, which didn't come with any presets anyway as far as I can tell). I'm guessing I installed them previously as part of an Ableton Pack - Max for Live Essentials or the Pluggo Pack, perhaps?
I also copied both folders - devices and presets - complete from M7; but not to 'user library', instead to a 'Live' folder within my documents. All presets are working OK.
i didn't have any devices in ableton before (except for granulator). not sure why that would affect the presets.

Any old folder, as long as Live knows its path (Browser/Places/Add Folder).
It seems the presets just have to live in the same place as their device, thats all.
ah, ok, the last step of the process was having Ableton manage the User Library and it makes all the connections automatically.
I got both live 9 and max 7 downloaded, but i can't connect them. i can't find max application in my preferences option. it just doesn't show up at all. could you plz help me?
I am having an issue with some user made devices where their presets will not load. I have tried all the suggestions above with no success. The device itself works, just not the presets that reside in the same folder and I get the error message "Could not access the Max device file "Name of device"". Examples of these devices are Mutated Texturizer, Basso & CV Toolkit Mini. When I right-click on the preset file "locate patcher" is greyed out. I have tried with Ableton 9 & 10 and get the same results. I have rebuilt the database and moved the folder containing the device/presets in and out of the user library, no difference. Anyone have this issue and find a solution?
