I'm not sure what I changed, or if it's a Max issue or an OSX preference but when I option click a max object (i.e. trying to change the curve setting in a function object) it opens the helpfile. Wondering if anyone has encountered this and knows how to disable it.

This was killing me too. I don't think I ever enabled this -- famous last words, I know -- so it makes me wonder if this got enabled when I installed 8.1.7 or 8.1.8.
