other forum suggestion

I did like the emails which were sent to me when someone answered to my topic. I know we can use "favorites topics" + RSS to look for the last messages on chosen topics, but when you are away for some time, it was nice to have this notification. plus there is no way to send private message to other members, as in the old forum, or maybe i dreamed.

I was under the impression that if you added a topic to your favorites it would send you an email. I guess this post will test that!

If you want to get email notifications on your favourites you have to choose that option in your profile settings...

      Thank for your help!
      Little suggestion : i think that :
      - Any topic that we started (and maybe even participated) should be by default in our favorites - And the "Favorite Notification" option in our profile settings should be checked by default for all users at the begining

Thanks for the good suggestions Alexandre!

      hi alexandre,
      we've made some changes.
now, by default we will all get an email for any topic we have made a favorite. if you do not want to receive emails for a topic, just remove it from your favorites.
also, any new topic we write or topic we reply to will automatically get added to our favorites list.
      thanks again for your suggestions!

hi again, hmm.. am i mad or the "Favorite Notification" option just disappeared in my edit page !? (see picture)
      >> "any new topic we write or topic we reply to will automatically get added to our favorites list."
this didn't work with me one the last topic that i started, i had to do it manually.

By the way, i know many people already noticed that, and i know Ben said it's on the to-do-list, so i don't want to be annoying, but as a recall :
1- there are still a lot of missing posts in old topics (like post from "Jean-Francois Charles" & "hendrik" in this topic : https://cycling74.com/forums/sharing-is-fun-lcd-sonogram )
2- old attachments are still hidden in old topics (anterior to the new forum design) (exemple of attachment that i'd like to download : https://cycling74.com/forums/sharing-is-triumph-fast-fourier-freedom (attachment should be in the first message)
      cheers, Alexandre

You're not annoying, Alexandre. Thanks for the nudge.

will there be a change to the forum layout that includes the name of the topic author after the heading? this was mentioned a few times when the forum was switched over, and i mention it again only because it seems like an oversight, given that the top of each topic follows the old conventions.. e.g. Started 3 weeks ago by Alexandre → Latest reply from Ben Nevile

so, the combination of "any topic you contribute to becomes a favorite" and the inability to turn off email notifications for favorite topics means that I now get a copy of any post i make to the forum in an email. not cool.

      lol goodparley :)
I'd also like to see the original poster of each topic, without having to open it up.
