I'm using pattrs to store lists of values in an M4L device. (They aren't bound to any objects, they just store lists.) I need to be able to control when the pattr outputs its values, so I disable "Output Value on Change" and send it bangs when I want it to output. It doesn't seem to save though. When I save my changes and reopen the device, the attribute is set back to it's default, enabled.

i'm seeing the same thing you're seeing, so i just bugreported it.

man, this is a killer bug.. the majority of m4l's knobs can't be automatable because when you play back the PATTR automations, it won't read the recording because that option is on, and thus the knob is actively being "used" when it's reading it's automation state and thus your automation gets greyed out the second you press play. ughhhhhhhh..

in the meantime i think i'll try a hack and put in an on/off switch that stops my pictviewer from talking to the pattrs so it can actually play back what the pattrs tell to it.

btw, my hack of stopping the pictviewer from sending messages to the pattrs, just so you can play back their recordings works... of course, the problem still really sucks because you have to turn on a special record button just to record using the pictviewer, and the pictviewer is very unresponsive while you're recording because every mouse update you send it has it go into a mini infinite loop, but hey... it's better than not being able to record the automations at all... sigh...
