Pitch to MIDI? Nothing reliable out there?

Hallo, I'm very surprised that I can't find something ready and simple to convert a live signal from an instrument to midi, I checked m4l, max, pluggins.... There are a lot of apps for iphone or ipad that make a great job, how is it possible that there's nothing for mac?
    Please, tell me I'm wrong.
    Thanks!
    David

Hi Gamuso, maybe there is no ready made product, yet, because everyone uses his/her own way. I'd recommend fiddle~ newly ported to 64 Bit by Volker Böhm. http://vboehm.net/downloads/ Also there: sigmund~ (more precise, but more CPU, too) and bonk~ (for percussive sounds). In M4L it's not possible to have a device with audio input producing MIDI notes. Instead you can analyse the signal there and use OSC or Max send/receive to communicate with a Max MIDI device and send the MIDI notes from there.

the IRCAMAX 2 Pack should do it. IM-Ianalyzer IM-NoteTracker

Thanks guys, I'm already trying with fiddle~ and those, but it's really weird there's nothing out there readymade... I love to expend hours with my max patches, but these days I'm preparing a concert, and can't afford hours and hours in front of the screen.
IRCAMAX2 looks good... but 150€ seems too much just for a device I need, also if I can't test before...
      Thanks again.

It seems Max 7 made everything much easier, http://sonicbloom.net/en/whats-new-in-max-7-for-max-for-live-users-15-audio-effects-using-real-time-intonation-pitch-and-time-correction/ But I still don't understand this total lack of information... I've spent around 3 hours trying to find this, and it happened by luck.
