So I'm trying to record some of the output of the things I'm building. I can pipe to a jit.qt.record and that seems to work, but the bandwidth is huge, causing gigantic files and dropped frames due to disk latency. Plus the frame rate never seems to be anywhere close to what I recorded it at.

So I thought I would try jit.dx.videoout, record it to a DV camera, and bring it back onto the computer using standard video capture.

When I send the jit.dx.videoout an 'open' message, Max hangs - all UI is blocked and all windows have the wait cursor. After about 45 seconds, UI unblocks and rendering resumes, the only message in the Max window is:

jit.dx.videoout | could not create Jitter Push Source

This is a standard 1394 DV camera, which works for capturing with jit.dx.capture.

Did you find an answer? I'm looking at the same error message, and wondering how to make it leave.

I have exactly the same problem, again the camera works with grab and other video in/out applications.

It's been several months...anyone know what to do with this error message? I've got a Sony Z1u attached to my Wintel computer via 400 Firewire. The Camera is seen by the computer, and works with Premiere, so the driver seems to be ok.

I'm having trouble whether I send the file (and set the camera to receive) as DV or HD, and whether I set the jit.qt.movie to interlace 0 or interlace 1, and whatever size I set the matrix to.

Any help is appreciated. Anyone have a simple jit.dx.videoout patch that they know works?

It's been several months...anyone know what to do with this error message? I've got a Sony Z1u attached to my Wintel computer via 400 Firewire. The Camera is seen by the computer, and works with Premiere, so the driver seems to be ok. 

I emailed tech support about this, they said they were aware of the issue and working on it. I suggest you mail tech too and see what they say. I don't know of any wintel box with it working (but I don't know a lot of things .........)

Cycling 74 opened a ticket on this problem for me, and asked for additional information, which I sent. It's been a couple of weeks, hope to hear from them soon. I'll post whatever they find.

Is there a set resolution that should be used for jit.dx.videoout?

Since a number of us are having problems using the function, perhaps there is a resolution issue.

The M15 Deck or any other HDV recorder (Z1U) must have the source video "Conformed" and this means that the deck doesn't have an HDV encoder so the EDL needs to conform or make an HDV recordable signal..."

This conforming step is what I also saw out of Premiere Pro. It takes time to create the conformed file. Since I need realtime output, this won't work for me. Looks like a simple fact that HDV isn't going to work for realtime output. Just knowing this is helpful...better than spending more time trying to make it work. It would be great if another HD format WOULD work, though.
