I’m new to Max development and have a question about display values for Max’s  UI controls. My current understanding is the display value can only be a linear or exponential mapping of the  control’s internal value combined with the unit type and optional custom unit string. Is it possible to have a custom non linear or exponential mapping? Ideally one that can be computed by some additional max components? I’ve considered using the combination of a dial and text control but I want the value to show on the Push’s display and it only  supports one UI control per knob. Hopes this makes sense and thanks for any hints.

Here’s some more context on what I’m trying to accomplish. I’d like to create max4live devices to better map my favorite VSTs to Push’s controls. I’d like to be able to use the Push alone as much as possible and so I’d like to be able to see the actual value of the plugin’s mapped parameter as opposed to the dials builtin unit type labels. I’ve figured out how to retrieve the mapped parameters value string but don’t know how to apply that to  the live.dial my Max device displays on the Push. I wish Max would allow full access to all of the Push's capabilities so we could create custom rich mappings for all our favorite plugins. Feels like a huge lost opportunity to crowd source a much better Push experience.
