I'm currently working through the SDK and developing some of my first custom objects. But I've found that every time I recompile the external I have to quit and relaunch Max to see the changes take effect. Does anyone know a faster way to 'reinitialize' all or specific objects from within Max?

My workaround is to set up my patches so they require the least effort to re-setup on launch (everything possible saved with patcher or auto-loaded from text files via coll). If the primary time sink is launching Max, using an SSD (or a home-rolled fusion drive on OS X 10.8+) as your system drive really helps.

Sorry. There is currently no way to unload an external once it has been loaded (and thus no way to reload). Re-starting Max is the way to go.
