Retrieve pictslider image from an old Collective

ddgg's icon

Hello!

I opened a very old collection (.mxf) of mine, where I invested a lot of time curating the graphical user interface. I worked with another computer back then.

In this collection I instantiated a few pictsliders with specific pictures and I was wondering if I there is a way to save those images in order to use them in other patches.

The .mxf is of course locked, but maybe opening the file with a text editor...

Thank you!

Well thank you for your offer! I'd like to learn how to do it though. All my attempts have been rather vain. Would you mind giving me an example on how you do it with the attached document?

I use hex editor to detect png file header and end mark

One could do something similar in Max using dump from filein ,

or you could try some comercial software that extracts media files from anything

Of course!! Directly with an Hex Editor!

I was opening it with a Text Editor and looking for PNG and IEND, but somehow the text encoding was compromising the file.

Thank you!

even better with a resource editor from pre-macOS12 times (at least for old-style collectives, not sure about mxf) or in emulation.

there is even a new one, but i have yet to test it. https://github.com/andrews05/ResForge
