I'm working on a patch that reads a folder with N number of midi files. Then it randomly chooses one of those files and sends it to seq to parse. However if I send seq a read message with absolute filepath it doesn't know how to work with it. So the only thing I can do is send "read" and only the filename (for example mysong.mid), and then seq searches for it from the hard disk. This seems a little bit stupid performance-wise as I already searched for the file once(in order to know the file name in the first place) and know where it is so I wouldn't want to search for the same file second time. Any ideas?

seq-object-and-absolute-filepath

You probably use folder object to populate umenu ...

Instead use umenu, autopopulate 1, types Midi, prefix mode concatenate

and give it absolute path to folder with midi files as prefix ...

Mistake in filepath.
read "/Midi Files/xxx yyy.mid"  must work
