    Dec 28 2006 | 3:05 pm
    hi
    I am on a PPC mac (G4 1.5 gig) running OS X 4 7, and maxmsp 4 5 7
When opening the CNMAT helpfile for sinusoids~ (which i just
    re-downloaded, 1.7.3 OSX CFM, right??)
    I got errors:
    *error : js: can't find file shepherd.js
    and then
*error : js : no function bang
    and an infinite list of
    *error : js : no function msg_float
    *error : js : no function msg_float
    *error : js : no function msg_float
    *error : js : no function msg_float
????????? what should I do??? (I don't know anything about js, i have to add)
    many thanks for some help
    best

I had the same problem - if I recall the js file is mis-named. Try
changing the name in the patcher object to 'shepard.js' instead of
'sheperd.js'. Or change the file name...
      Hope this helps.

      hi
      thanks
just before receiving your email, that's what i did (in text mode) -
      and yes, it works.
the strange thing (strange for me) is that both
*error : js : no function bang
      and
      *error : js : no function msg_float
disappeard (for *error : js: can't find file shepherd.js it is normal)
the 3 things are related I understand - but do i understand well???
hummm some day I should learn java script (but for the moment I am in
OpenMusic, and was afraid that running both Max and OM could "hurt"
something - as it was he case, years ago with max and PatchWork)..
could soemone confirm the only problem was the name of the js. file??
      mzed? ej??
      thanks

It was only a naming problem and it is fixed in the current version.
We had some confusion early on between a "shepherd" -- somebody who wrangles sheep, and Roger Shepard -- the guy who invented a certain auditory illusion. One of our programmers is Austrailian, what can I say? But for now, there are no sheep-oriented CNMAT objects.
