Max 7 - toolbar

I like the toolbar, great idea for new patchers but not necessarely for the old ones or for tutorials, is there another way than cmd-4 way to turn it off definitely with certain patchers ? I have checked the inspector and the the preferences but I can't see any options...

Sadly there is not and I totally agree with you. They are also very distracting in help files. Take a look to the pic attached, so many icons in that little window distract from what is important.

Yeah, I think I tend to agree there. I think the help patchers should load with toolbars off by default...

in the patcher inspector we can set "Show Toolbar on Open - does that mean that if we somehow save an empty patcher with this set like that as the default patcher, that all patchers open like that?

all the new ones. neither old ones nor examples, help files and so on.

the whole new look of the patcher window is a bit weird, the color scheme and new object border, especially when a patch gets busy it's not readable !

Thanks Wetterberg, there is an attribute (toolbarvisible), where do I send this attribute to ? If I click make attribute in Patcher, Max crashes...

@cycling74 how about some customisation ? it would be great to be able to turn some of the toolbar off and get more window estate.

Toolbar state is saved with individual patchers. You can 'unpin' each toolbar using the little grey triangle, or you can turn off toolbars in the patcher inspector (open inspector with nothing selected and click the little diamond P). If you have a certain layout you like, I recommend saving an empty patch as a Template, and then going into Preferences and selecting that Template as the default for new patchers.
This won't affect help patches or tutorials however.

below is a screenshot of the default colors I want for theses objects
here are the steps I followed but with no success.
-format -define new style -clear the page (keeping new style name) -file/create template - go to preferences and do what andrew suggested
no all UIs work bu not new object or new message

Before you save the template go to the patcher inspector and select the style you want for every new patcher. See pic attached.
