Anyone using a cheap 7" andriod tablet JUST as an OSC controller?

Jun 15 2012 | 3:11 pm

It occurred to me that there’s a plethora of these Andriod tablets out there (many for next to nothing, especially used). 7" seems like the perfect size as an additional controller too.

I know the Andriod is really shitty when it comes to fragmentation and usability, so writing to see if anyone has one of these compact tablets that is working/playing nice with Max and TouchOSC.

I found this for £46 new, though the reviews leave lots of room to be desired…

As far as I know, the android version of Touch OSC only supports the premade templates… that’s a deal breaker to me. Also, I would check how the touchscreen feels for the cheaper tablets. Beside these 2 points, I think it’s a pretty good idea.

Yeah that’s a big deal breaker too. I think the ipod touch will be the way to go, even though its a bit small, at least its ubiquitous and editable.

With a simple call-out to a bunch of my FB friends, I was able to pick up 6 1g iphones for a TOTAL of $80. I removed the SIM cards, jailbroke them all, and now they’re great with touchOSC audience hand-outs.

You might be surprised how many people have these things collecting dust in a drawer somewhere.

Do the 1gs run the latest touchosc fine?
