I am working in a large patch for an experiment. The patch is basically a large questionnaire with some stuff going on the background. I have a bpatcher that dynamically changes between various max patches to present the different questions to the users. I am using the full file path to replace each patch inside the bptacher which works well but I get a warning in the Max window each time I change the bpatcher contents. It says "myfile.maxpat: patcher is not in the search path".

I would like to know if there is any way to avoid these messages since I am posting some information to the Max window and it gets cluttered very quickly as I change the contents of the bpatcher.

originally I was just adding the folder with the experiment to the search path upon opening the main patch but it would randomly stop working.

this is only half an answer, but why do you keep patches outside the search path anyway?

while for audio this might make sense, i would avoid it for patches when possible.

I have them out of the search path because it makes deploying the patch a lot easier. The main patch finds its current folder on startup and then generates full paths to different resources needed. It makes it very easy to work in different computers and also it helps me with version control as I can just copy the whole thing including the patchers I'm loading into the bpatcher without running into "duplicate files" issues. Also, I have the experiment in 3 languages so far and it is very convenient to only change the folder path for each language and leave the individual "slides" patchers with the same name.

As I mentioned in my original post my previous version was adding the folder to the search path temporarily but this would randomly fail sometimes even in the middle of a session.

Sending the full path to each patcher does work but the clutter in the max window is really annoying when patching. I guess I just have to get used to that.
