I just noticed some strange behavior when working with waveform~ and buffer~.

I'm using waveform~ to draw values into a buffer, and then saving the drawn waveforms to the disk with the "write" buffer~ message.

I didn't have any problems until I started drawing different kinds of rectangle waves. Basically, any values I draw at the maximum (1.) are being saved and reloaded as -1., as you can see in the attached picture.

This is a Max 4 Live instrument. Using Max 7.0.1 and Live 9.1.7

I don't know if this is a bug or if I'm just doing something wrong.

I discovered the problem - figured I would post the solution just in case someone else messes up like I did.

Although my zoom level in waveform~ showed values from -1. to 1., I hadn't enabled "Draw with Clipping" in the inspector. So basically I was drawing in values above 1, even though I couldn't see them. And so it would appear that buffer saves values over 1. as -1.

Not necessarily your point, but you can save the buffer as a float32 file if you need values outside of [-1,1].

On a closely related topic, I have reports from Godel 3 users who do not own Max, only Max for Live, that they are having problems wth patches loading audio into buffer~. Please can someone share a working example of opening an audio file in a Max for Live ,amxd file? I would be very grateful indeed.
