Hello all, I am new to developing for Max5 and I can't seem to figure it out. I am trying to build the examples to see how things should be, but they aren't building. When I try to build simplemax, I get the errors :

    Checking DependenciesThe configuration settings file maxmspsdk.xcconfig will not be used due to an error: 'SDKROOT[arch' isn't a valid variable name.

Is it possible that I need to be using Xcode 3? I am running OS X 10.4, so I can't upgrade to Xcode 3 without completely upgrading OS X. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Well I seem to have answered my own problem. After hijacking a new computer in the computer lab, installing Xcode 3, and fiddling with the SDK, it seems to work just fine. Which changes my topic to how to use Xcode 2 to develop for Max 5? Or would it be better to just bite the bullet and upgrade to 10.5?

2.5 on a ppc machine with 10.4.11 works fine for max5 externs over here.

what version of xcode are you running?

I was using Xcode 2.3, but decided to just go ahead and upgrade OS X to get Xcode 3. However, I am curious what settings must be set to get Xcode 2 to build properly?

As far as I remember Xcode 2.4 something or higher it required.

I'm running osx 10.4.11 with xcode 2.5 and i'm getting the same problems..

I'm going to upgrade to osx 10.5 soon i think, but i've got to use this within the next week. Any ideas!!???!!

I'm running osx 10.4.11 with xcode 2.5 and i'm getting the same problems.. 

Perhaps remove and re-add the Max framework to the 2.5 project, and also check that the header/framework search paths are correct for the target. I had some problems where the relative paths became absolute in 2.5.
