default path for savedialog
Is there a way to specify the default path that is displayed in the
dialog that appears when the savedialog object is banged? I’ve tried
fully specifying a file path + name using the "name" message, but
that didn’t work…
That would be a great feature, I don’t think it already exists.
Another one: set the window title of the dialog (such as ‘Choose Save Folder’ instead of ‘Save’)
Both requests also hold for opendialog.

Also searching for a way to set the default path when using savedialog. Saw this post from 6 years ago, wondering if there was now a way to do this – maybe someone knows of a Windows external I could use?
I want to strongly encourage (but not insist) that users of my app store presets in a designated preset directory. I could "force" writing to that directory (user only enters a filename and I write it to that directory) but the other problem is that there is not the built-in prompt warning if the file already exists…
well, I’ll bump this again–seems like an important basic feature.
I guess I will force-write to the correct folder, as suggested. Actually, might skip the file dialog altogether then– just need a text string from the user.
that would be against the paradigm of how it ussually works in windows and mac os, no? maybe you are better advised to find a solution on OS level (i´ve sstopped using it 10 years ago, but youldnt you do that in "default folder" on mac, that you choose differetn defaults for each program?)
