What is the best way of detecting "events" in an audio buffer, i.e. vocalizations, notes played, etc. So grabbing both the onset and the end point of the event. I know a simple way is to detect by using a threshold on a smooth amplitude follower, but I wonder if a more sophisticated way exists or if there is an external which handles it well.
