I'm returning to MAXMSP after a year of doing other things, so I may be forgetting something obvious, but both 4.5 and 4.6 open on a MacPro (Intel) with the dsp status greyed out in the options menu.

I have repeatedly dumped preferences (I think. They are now in user/Library/Preferences/Max 4.6 Preferences Folder?) Ran the prebinder software.

This could be that Max is authorized, but not MSP? Perhaps try re-entering your challenge response?

Thanks, Jaeysin. I talked with tech support, who helpfully walked me through dumping every little MaxMSP file on the computer. Reinstalled, restarted and it all works now.
