Hi, is there an easy way to loop sections of an audio file played by a sfplay~? - it's actually nine different files played together by a sfplay~ 9.

I've tried the playbar but its loop function only works with videos.

I've also tried the new playlist~ but it doesn't seem to work with my audio file that has 9 parts.

this is something you could do quite easily in gen~ using segments that are longer that one wavecycle based on this:

Doing it just means replacing the calculation of the length of 256 samples in msec with the length in mssec of the eight samples.

That's interesting. Are you setting the loop start and end points manually?

I'm just curious, because it is theoretically possible to set cue points in a wav file, and there is an object for it called sflist~, but I've never tried it.

oh yes you're right I could have done that with sflist~ too

although I needed to select portions of the file on the fly, like the playlist~ object but with an audio file that has 9 channels.

So I just send a message seek $1 for the beginning and >$2 for the maximum. It clicks but that fine for what I need.

Ah, well I think may be because the MSP objects can only receive inputs on vector boundaries. gen~ can find zero crossings to remove clicks, but as you say you don't mind.

I am not certain that multiple cue points actually work in one file. Originally, one could only have one loop in a single wav., but maybe that has changed.
