So far I've been using M4L quite steadily but I'm getting sick of some of Live's limitations, especially in regards to automation. I was wondering how straightforward is it to 'import' or re-create a regular Max 6 patch inside Gen and then the opposite, how hard is it to export the code and compiling it to create a standalone AudioUnit. How is the GUI part of AU creation handled?

I'm on a tight schedule and was wondering if I could learn and do this in a week's time. BTW, did I mention that I don't know C++ and am quite a stranger to this whole compiling code stuff? The most 'hardcore' I've ever gotten is writing some mxj objects before. Just an ordinary musician...

Not to underestimate your capabilities, but i doubt it'd happen easily in a week's time.

For the GUI stuff, there are generic views you can easily use:

some folks even make good business with just that because their DSP is so nice:

But you still have to recreate the max patch object by object in gen~, then export the code and finally tweak the code for the GUI. I suppose it's doable, though... You could always try it, then if you don't make it in a week you'll be that much closer the next time you find the time :)
