Gamepad controller input?
Is there a simple way to get controller values into Max from a PC joystick/gamepad? It’s USB. Can the serial object do this, and if so, anyone know how to set the arguments and such? I’d like to use it as another controller, as an alternative to the mouse and keyboard.
I do get an error: "error opening serial object". Any ideas?
Thanks for any info!
boy, your suggestion couldn’t have worked any better. THANK YOU!!!!
I’ve also been having fun configuring it to be my mouse, though that’s really not that practical past experimentation. Using it in Max, however, is a totally different story… lots of possibilities there. Plus, it can be used to supplement a larger MIDI controller.
I’m doing a presentation at a research symposium showing some various ways to control my patches. Using a game pad should make them quickly and easily accessible to whoever is interested, and having a bunch of cool presets will certainly help.
Once again, thank you so much!!

I will reply now to every post without quotes: Just to explain: Please
quote at least one line of the message you are quoting to. If you are
reading a list, like I do, I read the message you where refering to
yesterday – its marked "read" – I normally do not see what I read
already. I need to know the reference! Looking for the reference would
slow down my reading as if I would use a slow web interface, its just
Please learn to reply according to the nettiquette, I will therefore
shorten my signature (which is no pain on a list, but might not fit the
need of a forum. Of course it looses its beauty as well, but who reads
e-mail with a fixed width font nowadays beside me….?)

I’ve been leaving in your signature on the posts when editing them in the forum…big signatures are not a big deal, as most people can quickly identify them.
Speaking of signatures, they’ve been enabled in the User CP. Plain text for now, but we may allow a subset of HTML in signatures in the future.
