Here's another problem i'm stuck with, seems simple even to me, but i'm breaking my teeth on it...

let's say i have a button, its scriptname is "1 1" (i'd rather it to be named 1 1 but the quotes are necessary...)

let's say i receive an input list of 1 1 (i must receive it without quotes) i wan't to access this button's attributes this way:

this.patcher.getnamed("1 1").getattr("bgcolor")

problem is i can't form the symbol "1 1" with quotes if i'm starting with the list 1 1, and adding the quotes afterwards

doesn't work, it returns Frankensteins like \" 1, 1\"

i know there's something i don't know... i know it... I'm sure one of you knows what i don't...

trying running the list through a |tosymbol| object before entering js...

Aouch... Problem is, the list is generated inside JS, it's an output from a matrix i'm querying with a getcell() message i send from inside JS to the matrix object located inside the patch. So i would have to send the list out from the JS, pass it through the tosymbol then turn back into the JS... That could be a solution but... i wish there was some function like tosymbol in JS!

Anyway, thanks a lot for your advice Lee, i'll try this if i can't find any other option within JS, like maybe trying to form a list in a different way so i won't have to deal with those quotes...

not familiar with the getcell() call, but does it return an array?
