I Need A MAX user to re-compile a program
I’m interested in an open source program called Chroma Key Live. It’s only available for MAC OS – and I am running Windows Vista 64 bit. I wrote to the author about it and he responded;
"Chroma Key Live could theoretically be compiled on Windows
because it was built inside a graphical programming environment called
MAX/MSP/Jitter which is cross-platform. I doubt that there are any
universal windows drivers for getting HD video from the Panasonic P2
cameras over firewire, so you might be stuck with standard DV cameras
Since Chroma Key Live is open source, your best bet is to find somebody
who uses MAX and can compile it on Windows. It’s not exactly an "open
and save-as" kind of thing, but it shouldn’t take all day either. Some
things need to be changed to use DirectX instead of Quicktime for the video
camera interface, but otherwise the source code should just work.
Maybe ask on the MAX/MSP/Jitter forums if anybody is willing to take the
"source patch" from the Chroma Key Live download and modify it for
If you have success, I’ll be happy to host the Windows version on my
site, and give credit to whoever does the conversion."
So, here I am. What I want to do is to plug a camera into my computer (Firewire or USB) and play a DVD (also on computer) and superimpose an actor in front of a green screen on the DVD video.
I’ve found lots of options to do this in "post-production", but only a couple programs to do it live.
Anyone interested in the project? How much would it cost?
fwiw, you won’t be able to composite over a dvd with this app. you could possibly add that ability using jit.desktop, but won’t be as efficient. this patch gives you the ability to load a quicktime movie to play in the background.
did you have a link to the .maxpat file?
to create a windows app, you’ll need more the full application.
both can be found here:
Wow! – Hey, thanks! I’ll go download it now!
Well, thanks again, but apparantly I need a file called MaxAPI.dll to run it. I’m guessing it’s part of the program you used to compile it in Windows. I feel a bit pathetic, but is this file generally available?
not sure but my guess is that it comes with max, download and install the demo or the runtime,
just did a search for it on my computer and it found in the zip file that i sent you are you sure it not in the support folder?
