i would like to be able to load entire sample libraries into buffer~ without using a drop box. Example idea of what i want to do it posted below. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If I understand you correctly then maybe the following will work. Just send the umenu a folder location. the autopopulate will do the rest. the relativepath object might come in handy as well.

Yes, the patch you supplied is closer to what i poorly described, but what i must have failed to express is that i would like to be able to load multiple folders (not all at once) into a buffer, so for example a folder of drums one minute, folder for birds the next, etc. all with me controlling when the folders get changed. Does this make more sense? Is it possible?

ok. how about collecting all the paths in a coll? then you can access them on the fly.
