Is there a way for the preset object to control objects in a subpatcher?

Not with preset. You might want to have a look at pattrstorage.


pattrstorage is very powerful with the interpolation and attribute control, but there are two disadvantages compared to preset: 1) you have to have the separate .xml file, and 2) if you add or take away an object from your pattrstorage client list, all your stored slots will be deleted when it restructures (can others confirm this?). With preset if you add or take away objects, all you need to do is re-load and re-store each stored setting, which you can do automatically with a message "$1, store $1" and the output of an uzi.

Also don't copy presets with anything stored in them and expect them to work as you'd think, the new copies will reference the objects connected to the original preset. You need to re-load and re-store, or clearall and start over.

Here's a workaround to store values in a subpatcher with a preset on the level above. It's a bit more work but functions fine and you can hide the "proxy" objects which are actually stored by the preset. You could also look into [value] or send/receive to get the values to where you want. Don't forget you need a set $1 somewhere or you'll get a stack overflow.
