I’ve just completed another university project in MaxMSP for which I need to submit a demonstration video. The screen capture software I’m using is called ScreenFlow, it lets you record your screen simultaneously with a camera input (webcam, built-in iSight etc.) hence it’s been useful in the past when I need to demonstrate how a patch responds to an input device.
Previously when using the software, I’ve been able to select ‘record computer audio’ i.e. the internal soundcard. This has been fine when all of the audio is generated within MaxMSP with no external audio input. In my current patch audio input is necessary, therefore I’ve been using my Edirol FA-66 for input and output but unfortunately, ScreenFlow will not record the output from the FA-66, only its direct input. For this reason, I decided to use Soundflower instead, in conjunction with Soundflower Bed for monitoring.
Although the latency with Soundflower Bed is irritating, it doesn’t bother me too much just for the purposes of recording this demonstration, what is annoying is the very low level that Soundflower seems to record at. I’ve got a nice strong output signal from my patch but the end recording and what I hear when monitoring seems extremely quiet.
Is there something simple I’m missing here, can be problem be easily remedied? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
