Kinect – Windows 8 – Jit.freenect.grab

June 13, 2013 | 7:13 am

Hi guys,

As stated in previous posts I am about to embark on a masters final project which will be to test theories of immersion by creating a simple gesture game.

I have got my hands on a ms kinect but as I am running windows 8 am a bit concerned on how it will work with maxmsp. I noticed on the jit.freenect.grab it states that,

"The latest version of jit.freenect.grab is "Release Candidate 5", which was released on 2012-3-7. The object requires Max 5 with Jitter and only runs on Intel Macs with OS 10.5 or later."

Is there are way of making the kinect work with max/msp on windows 8?

All the best,

The dp.kinect external is much more featured than freenect and still being updated by diablodale. Have you checked that?

Hey Joe J
Your post is the only reference I can find for this messa that Kinect+Msp+CrappyWindows8 is… is there any hope for us? I’m working around the workarounds, but I don’t know if someone ever succeeded.
