If just updated to Max5,and I experience on a core 2 duo 2.33 with 2Gb of ram laptop massive latencys.
for example on the tutorial 19:Timing
As soon as I unlock the patch it goes totaly out of time.
If I select all and Move the objects the click goes nuts.
does anyone else experience something like that?
any suggestions, what it could be?
unfortunately overdrive is enabled!
I had forgotten to mention, that the problem starts after a while working in max, which is what others experienced as well.
I thought at the beginning it would be a problem of the system,
but the more I search the forum, the more I feel in good company.

I believe you are referring to the problem that graphical interface updates happen in the same thread as the event queue updates. It is the same in Max 4, only in Max 4 the interface is substantially less heavy so you need more simultaneous interface updates to create timing problems.
This boils down to that you should always do as little interface updates as possible. Moving a lot of objects causes a lot of interface redrawing, so the only thing to say about that is: don’t expect timing to be accurate while moving objects.
I’m with you hoping that this system will be updated in Max 6.
it is sometimes painfull in a live performance, when you have controllers, that you don
