A couple of years ago, I built a small display with a 2 lines alphanumeric LCD driven by an arduino. The arduino received sysex messages over MIDI (to keep compatibility with other older "displays": Max3 standalones on old Mac laptops), sent by Max.
But now, I rather use an iPod touch with TouchOSC or Lemur (wirelessly but could also be used over a MIDI cable): it’s cheaper, smaller, faster, more readable, more flexible.
But if you’re interested to get the arduino code for this, please pm me.
i will pm straight away. i am still looking forward to not use an ipod tho as the project is to work with vintage lcd.
but ipod solution can be a workaround in case … and osc is more my cup of tea :)
Just came across this. I think i am trying to do something similar to you guys. I basically want to set up an interface on MAX where users can type a block of text. Then I want this to go through an arduino and out onto an LCD screen. Have you guys had any experience or luck with your projects?
Any help or a point in the right direction would be much appreciated!
