Maybe something like this (sorry to use a screenshot, I'm currently using Max' demo):

when i make a "target"-message with more than 10 instances it rewrites it to \$11, \$12, \13... any idea how to fix this? or maybe it doesnt make a difference

like in patricks example i would also suggest to do it outside. and you basically want to use either [unpack] or [iter] for it.

the picture is a bit misleading about the first $. there are always only 9 $-arguments to objects. "target 12" will work fine. for many voices you might want to use a counter for that. for only 12 you could use 12 seperate messageboxes or 12 times [prepend target 12]

when you do it internally you could use [zl nth] to store the incoming list and then play only one list element from it - eventually based on the instance number provided by [thispoly~]
