I had this object working beautifully, but i just got a new computer and upgraded both Live and Max (not to mention Windows 7 to 8). I downloaded the latest version of Java but I'm getting this error:

mxj: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.

(mxj) mxj_platform_init failed. Could not initialize the Java Runtime Environment.

Hopefully it's something obvious? I don't remember having to download any externals with this one... Any help greatly appreciated!

Ok so i don't exactly know what I'm doing here, but i was searching my computer for more info on my Runtime Environment and i found my way to the menus pictured in my attachment. There originally was only 1 environment, a couple more were found, but they all say Platform 1.7. Would this by why I'm getting an error? If so, how to upgrade 1.7 to 2?

Java 1.7 was the latest version of Java only until recently, with 1.8's release. Oracle brands their versions by omitting the 1. out of the number. Technically speaking, you have the "Java 7 Runtime Environment" installed, which should include every preceding runtime environment as well.

Java can be a bit of a pain sometimes. If you're running Max in 64bit, I would check to make sure that you also have 64bit Java. Alternatively in this case, run Max as 32bit and see if resolves the issue. If you've confirmed that your bits align, and the problem still exists, then try to delete all temporary files, applets, etc (it should be in the first tab of that properties prompt in your screenshot). If it doesn't like it still, uninstall and re-install Java.

Thanks! Java had detected my browser as being 32-bit so it matched that with the install. Reinstalled with 64 bits and everything was cool.

Little help with [mxj buf.Op]? Apparently my java environment is no good...
