i wrote a little something, that utilizes eight pages on the ableton push (version 1) display using the index of the live.dial objects.

now i´d like to dynamically change the page shown on the push dsplay in dependency of what midinote currently is or was played.

i thought one way to do it could be to dynamically assign indexes to the live.dials used but i can´t find a way to do this.

any help apprechiated, i´m also very open to other solutions, especially if they make more sense as my, probably strange, attempt to achieve this.

edit: i tried to use presentation $1 to hide and show objects but while it works on the computerscreen ableton push still sees it, so it´s no solution for my problem.

You can't dynamically change the index/order of Live.dials it would lead to a crash of Ableton, you can only do it at device initialisation in a bPatcher using arguments....

thank you! here´s a little more info what i want to do, the patch generates 8 x 5 static voltages to be sent out via an Expert Sleepers ES-8CV interface. these 8 channels are triggered with notes ranging from C-2 to G-2 on a keyboard, very inspired by the Makenoise Pressurepoints module.

if i press, for example, E-2 i´dlike to have push automatically jump/show to the 5th page of controls, this would make the workflow a lot better.

as of now i have to manually select between the 8 pages on push.

any idea on how i could make this work would be great.

You would need to grab the display and write to it yourself.... Then grab all of the Encoders and direct their signals as appropriate...

could you split the device into 8 seperate devices and put them in a rack? then have them selected via midi note. if you activate "automatic selection" ( the little right arrow above the chain list) push jumps to the device triggered by that midi note.

@S4RACEN: thanks, i thought about this option too but i can´t wrap my head around the live api with its paths and the egloff dev tools for push don´t work reliable anymore, at least not for me.

@mothergarage: edit: it won´t work since i need eight to output 8 signals simultaneous from one track, obviously that´s why they wrote the external which makes this possible :) also there can only one instance of the external be used in one live project, maybe i just stick with what i have for now since it works and only costs me one button press more on the push.
