Lua ODE : missing features ?

May 24, 2007 | 5:19 pm

Hi Wes,
Is it possible that some features are missing from the Lua ODE implementation ? For instance, it seems like the dBodySetMass and dBodyGetMass functions are not implemented.

Also, I get some strange behavior with objects. It would be nice if more examples were provided with the LuaODE download. Some impressive ones could help everyone to develop quickly new uses of this library, and more diversified ones.

Thanks !

It’s been a while since I looked at the ODE stuff and I vagualy
remember there not being a few mass functions. It’s entirely possible
that there are some missing parts of the ODE lib. Lua ODE is not
something I have time to work on right now and the examples I have are
only half finished as well. In the interest of giving you a better
example, I’m attaching a half-baked half-finished pendulum patch that
has a world and body class which could make things easier for working
with ODE. Keep in mind that this code could be vastly improved. If
you have specific problems or questions, please post a patch and a
script. ODE is not a trivial thing to work with. I often encouter
situations where I think luaODE is broken only to eventually find it
was my misunderstanding of the API.

thanks,
wes
