I’m currently working on a project where I’ve got at least one audio feed that’s streaming from the web via an m3u file (so really, it’s http streaming audio).
My solution at the moment is to open that stream into VLC and have SoundFlower as the default audio out device, then hijack that as the audio in in my Max patch.
Is there a way to pull the steaming audio directly into Max? If I want to expand my input to 2 or 3 streams, I end up having to duplicate the VLC app on my Mac and have each one open and play simultaneously, and I don’t have a way of having individual feed control once it gets to Max because they all merge into the same 2 channel SoundFlower input.
If I could have each stream as a separate object directly in Max, it would give me more flexibility as to how I route & process the sound.
It LOOKS like I should be able to do this having a "read http://blah.blah.blah/" message sent into jit.qt.movie, but I haven’t actually been able to get that to work, and don’t see any examples of using a streaming input in the reference material.
