I just reinstalled Max 4.5.5 on my new PC laptop. Whenever I do changes in the Options menu like disable the new object list and enable segmented patch cords, if I close max and reopen, they revert to the default, same with the other options.

Found the solution, I had accented characters in my account name which Max did not like...

Max won't save my preferences
