[newbie] make things bigger in presentation mode

Jun 19 2010 | 10:16 am

I want to make my number boxes and comments bigger, say 46pt, for better readability in Presentation Mode. But those boxes, when I drag with mouse, seems to grow wider only horizontally. If I change the boxes’ display size in inspector, then it affects also normal pacthing view, make my patching window a disaster. Is there a way to make num boxes and comment boxes bigger ONLY in Presentation mode?

I believe you can just hold-down shift (or command) and drag to scale the objects just like adobe-illustrator.

When in presentation mode shift+click the resize handle and drag it. The object will then grow proportionally rather than just stretch horizontally.

right-click the object, go to the inspector. there you can change the font and size of the numbers

shift + drag does the trick!!
fantastic…thank you very much.
but where can I possibly get all this tricks?
for example, in the default shortcut list, there are many stuff missing.
where can I have complete list of all those handy tricks??

well, actually shift + drag does not work.
it makes boxes bigger also in the patching mode.
I think it is impossible to make presentation mode ONLY size changing.

too bad.

This sounds like a *bug* to me. The expected behaviour is for the created UI in presentation mode to be independent from in patching mode.

Imo, this should apply to font/font size as well, which is what’s causing the problem for you.

I suggest sending an email to support asking them if this can be changed.

Yeah, might bog things down a little……and they’re not exactly zippy as it is!

I wasn’t meaning to suggest having everything independent btw, just the visual attributes; that is, after all what presentation mode is for no?

raja, the patch you posted pleases me a lot. thanks.

maybe I change the subject here, but it’ll be nice to see Max become mouse-free environment one day. The graphical programming is certainly Max’s power and beauty, but hand connecting patch cords (even with the help from Toolbox external)and Adobe software alike shift + drag, snap to grid kind of operations are very annoying. Maybe I should learn Javascript?

Anybody doing their patching, GUI setting ups in script exclusively?
Some good examples apart from official help files?
