I'm trying to get started on a major project and i've fallen at the first hurdle. 

I'm trying to develope a max patch which can open read and play any MIDI file at different speeds, with the MIDI information being displayed graphically in a scrolling score/piano roll.

I'm trying to get started on a major project and i've fallen at the first hurdle.

I want to know how to:
Open and play pre recorded MIDI files within MAXMSP
and
link MIDI data to a graphical system (fretboard on guitar)

Look at Detonate. It's graphical and can import Type 1 MIDI files that seq

still can't handle. After you look at the examples you's see how to vary

Look at Detonate. It's graphical and can import Type 1 MIDI files that seq
still can't handle.  After you look at the examples you's see how to vary
speed.

Will detonate continue to play and record multi-track midi?
