Record Two Separate Audio Inputs
Im trying to create a patch to record skype calls. I have the output of skype going to soundflower, but since I want to record the input of the microphone, as well, I’m wondering if its possible to record from two separate audio inputs at the same time (1 – Soundflower, 2 – built in mic).
Since there is only one input selectable, I imagine this is not possible. If that is the case, are there any other options for accomplishing this? Thanks for your help in advance,
you can use the [adoutput~] to insert the skype sounde into max. and you can use the [record~ 2] (??) object, with a 2 channel buffer. Recording to one channel the Skype audio and at the other the mic input. Sorry for not having a patch to simply show what you coyuld do exaclty but currently i have no max! sorry,
hope it helps!
actualy i thing, you sould use the [sfrecord~ ] that records as long as you want. the record objects stop when the buffer is full. the sfplay has an argument specifying the number of inputs-channels
Launch the Audio MIDI Setup app found in Applications/Utilities. Select the Audio Devices Window from the Window menu if it’s not there already. Click the + in the bottom left to create a new aggregate audio device. This is a virtual device made up from other devices. Select Soundflower and your Built-In-Input from the list of the right.
Now if you run Max with this aggregate device selected in the DSP settings, you should be able to use both inputs at once.
I tried that, David, but to no avail.
Do you use two adstatus~ objects, Korax?
hm…. sorry, i think i am completely wrong! sorry for that…! I though that [adoutput~] was something like a "what you hear" option… when you can record the output to your speakers, recording everything that is heard from there :S
The soundflower way, David said is the best i can think of!
Hi Kenvinlee89: thanks for the spam.
