I'm finding with Max 6, On a Mac, I can unplug a MIDI Device and replug it in, and it works.

I'm not having the same luck on Windows. The same patch does not have the same effect. I've also tried re-banging the midiinfo object, but it does not update on windows(It will on a Mac).

Does anyone have any info on this (Ie, is it on specific versions of windows, is the feature limited to Max 6, but not the Max 6 Runtime(I'm testing with the RT version of Max on windows)

Same problem here - Max 6.0.8 on windows XP. In my recollection, this has always been the case on windows, but I've mostly always used Max on Mac OS X. Would be great if Cycling could fix this sometime.
